I’ve missed you

August 31, 2006

Seriously. I’ve been too busy (and grumpy) to post and have had not had much to say, anyway. I’m hoping tomorrow we’ll resume our regularly scheduled programming. If you’re still around, I’d love to have you visit me on the front porch.

Sunday, 7am, self portrait

August 27, 2006

Sorry, I haven’t been around for a few days. I was on vacation Thursday and Friday of this past week. We were supposed to be in Orlando, visiting blogger friends, but alas, that was not meant to be. Although I was on vacation, I managed to work at least four hours both days. I never can just leave it alone, I suppose. Yesterday, I helped a friend paint his house. The satisfaction of the painting was far greater than the crap I did for work, I assure you.

Last night, we attended the Festival of Hahtor, the buggest annual fundraiser for Justin’s charitable group, The Noble Krewe of Hathor. Justin sang a song from “Phantom of the Opera”. He really was fabulous.

Yeah, it was all so great and I forgot my camera. But, there were people there, including Wade, who had theirs, so, I’m sure I’ll get a picture or two for you.

Other than the busy work that I’ve mentioned, not a lot going on. Except for the fact that I wish I were in Orlando. With these guys

"The heart is a bloom"

August 23, 2006

I got this from “Weighing In, Without The Cookies”. Again!

Your Theme Song is Beautiful Day by U2

“Sky falls, you feel like
It’s a beautiful day
Don’t let it get away”

You see the beauty in life, especially in ordinary everyday moments.
And if you’re feeling down, even that seems a little beautiful too.

I LOVE this song. One of my favorites.

Oh, and thanks everyone for all of the kind words you left for me yesterday. You guys (and gals!) are the best. Really!

How do you spell relief?

August 22, 2006

I spell it this way: P-A-S-S-E-D. The state exam is over! Whew!

Peace be with you

I was terribly saddened to learn that there is one less star shining in the heavens tonight.

What’s your path?

August 19, 2006

I got this from K’s blog, Weighing In, Without The Cookies. Fabulous blog and an even more spectacular woman, by the way. (I tried to link her here, but it is just not working. You can find her in my blogroll, though.)

I second her opinion. How was this simply generated by me typing in my birthdate? It hit a nail or two on the head.

Your Life Path Number is 4

Your purpose in life is to build your vision.

You are practical and responsible. You work hard, knowing that there are no shortcuts in life.
You work for a better life for yourself and those you love, but you are not an idealist.
Trustworthy and honest, you also demonstrate great courage. People can count on you.

In love, you are a loyal and committed partner. You are the ideal spouse.

You don’t give up easily, and sometimes you can be too stubborn and unwilling to change.
You also can be too conservative at times. You sometime miss out on good opportunities.
Also remember that not everyone can work as hard as you, as disappointing as that is!

Give it a shot. Maybe you’ll be as amazed as I was.

Brad weighs in on…

August 19, 2006

…automobile mechanics, theater, global warming, gay lifestyles and Pat Robertson.

After stopping at the supermarket yesterday, I hop back into my SUV to head home, fire it up, and it starts shuddering badly and the “check engine” is flashing. I managed to limp it home. I haven’t a clue as to the problem. Modern vehicles are so loaded with electronics and pollution control devices, there is just no way to know without hooking it up to a computer and retrieving the trouble codes. If I had to venture a guess, I’d say the idle control valve. Maybe. Or maybe not. Sheesh.

Justin is at rehersal for his upcoming role today, so I guess I’ll head to the shop with my injured truck and have them take a look at it. Exciting stuff, right?

My friend Morgen at It’s a Blog Eat Blog World sent me “Seven Silly Questions” earlier this week, I replied and he’s posted them at his blog today. Go by and check it out if you’d like. Or don’t. It doesn’t matter to me, since I probably don’t even know you anyway.

Did I mention that it’s hot as hell in Memphis today? But of course global warming is not a reality, only a theory, right? I need to mow my yard but I don’t see it happening in this heat.
My state exams have been moved to Tuesday so I suppose I’ll crack the books at some point today, at least that’s an activity that I can enjoy in the air conditioning. Woo hoo!

You know, gay folks live exciting lives. It’s just a damned party all the time, tons of drugs and lots of sex. Just ask some creep that has all the answers like Pat Robertson. He’ll tell you everything you need to know about homosexuals and their lifestyles.

I think I need an attitude adjustment.

Come sit on my front porch…

August 17, 2006

…and bring your laptop!

After working for days on the wireless router and the laptop to get them to communicate, I have achieved success! Of course, said success came at a little before two o’clock this morning. But nonetheless, I’ve tamed that shrew of a router and the bitch is mine! This major victory was not mine singularly. My friend Wade gave me the essentials I needed to complete this task.

When I started working with all of this last night, I decided I wouldn’t quit until I made it all work, so I got to bed sometime after two a.m., I’m tired today, but knowing that I finally got this little problem crossed off my “to-do” list makes it all worthwhile!

Tonight, I have a date. Italian food always sounds so darned romantic doesn’t it?

Oh, and thanks, Wade!

What’s with the long face?

August 16, 2006

I’m back in the office today, at least for a while. I’ll be going out of town to do some work later today.

The class that I attended yesterday really blows my mind. I have to learn all of this terminology for types of insurance that I know nothing about. What do I need to know about casualty insurance? I send the check to my agent for my insurance. That’s all I want to know. But, it seems I have to be versed in some of the aspects of casualty insurance to be granted a title insurance agency licensce. I could run circles around the title insurance portion of the exam, but this casualty part is kicking my ass! Oh, and as I feared, I will be taking the exam on Saturday, for pete’s sake! Grumble, grumble, grumble. This shows my general mood today:

I’m tired, because I didn’t sleep well last night. To top it off, I woke up early this morning, misread the clock and thought I was running late. I rushed around, got ready, was halfway to work when I really looked at the time on the dashboard of the truck. I was an hour earlier than what I had thought.

The only thing I’m looking forward to is a nice romantic dinner with Justin on Thursday. That is enough to put a smile on my grumpy, sleep-deprived face:

I hope you’re having a great week. I think the gloomy skies in my brain will clear up sometime tomorrow.

Oh, I almost forgot. I was up late last night trying to get my wireless router to work with my laptop. I’m still getting nowhere. So, Mush, when you’re online again and we’ve got time, do you think you could guide me through the stuff that will make these two children play nicely together?

I tell you, it’s nothing but…

August 14, 2006

…damned ol’ red tape.

I’ve been spending the day hunkered down in my office, studying for a class I’m taking tomorrow concerning title insurance. I’ve been in this business all of my adult life, and thought I knew most of all there is to know about the subject. Hee hee! Do I live in a state of delusion or what? It seems that one most know a little about other types of insurance as well, (Home, health, life, etc.) to become certified in the State of Tennessee for a title insurance agency licensce. Who knew?

I’ll take the class all day tomorrow, and then take the state exam one day this week. (Maybe Saturday, damnit!)

That’s all I’ve got going on today. Except for the fact that I’m cooking a pot roast tonight. Don’t you wish you were here?
