Sunday quickie
January 28, 2007We were discussing fried chicken in our office a few months ago. You know, who had the best you could buy, which relative made the best, etc. A co-worker walked up and joined in our conversation. After listening for a moment she said, “I don’t like fried chicken. It’s all greasy and nasty!”
Stunned silence all around.
I turned and looked at her a bit incredulously and said, “Just what in the hell do you eat on Sundays, then?”
As my buddy Lemuel is fond of writing: “That’s a wrap!”
FWIW: I prefer my fried chicken just eaten with my fingers, not in a wrap. [LOL!]
…and btw, we had roast today not fried.

KFC is my fav…I eat it maybe twice a year. I have to watch cholesterol so I can’t eat it very often. I do love fried chicken though…it just hates me

There is actually a chain here in South Florida that I like more than KFC, I don’t know if it is anywhere else but if you run across Bud’s Fried Chicken, do yourself a favor a drive thru!
But my mama made the best friend chicken on the planet!
I had baked chicken today but then you know how weird we Northerners are. It was skinless so had very little Cholesterol. Mashed potatoes and corn and cottage cheese and crescent rolls. Okay, I ate at my parents house.
um ….. I had chick last night marinaded in rosemary tyme basil vinagrette, with Mashed spuds and veggies !!! …shoot now I am starving .
Okay, I’m not even from the south and I know to eat fried chicken once a week at least although I didn’t realize it had to be on Sunday…
UMM Fried Chicken sounds good right about now.
It should be served with ice cold lemonade and also mashed potatoes and gravy.
Dessert should be a pecan pie!!
And it should be deep fried!!! And the batter be should be so thick that it breaks off!!!
I can eat fried chicken any day of the week. Whenever I’m in Memphis, I have to get it at the Dodge Store.
We don’t have KFC’s here — but I love their Original Recipe. A big juicy thigh, please.
Here in SW Michigan we have a nasty chain called “chicken coop” (I can’t make this stuff up) — it is the most vile stuff (they fry smelt and chicken in the same rancid oil)… yuck.
Actually, the best fried chicken I’ve found here since we moved to Michigan has been the gas station called Five Mile (it’s five miles from everything). The chicken is second only to KFC.
