Souper Bowl Sunday

February 5, 2007

I’m back and I’m staying here at Blogger. I researched my options over the weekend and none were better than just staying put. If I ever do move, I think I’ll set up my own web page for the blog. That would be sometime in the distant future, though.

Normally we have a party for the Super Bowl, but since I haven’t been feeling so great with stomach issues, we decided to cancel the little get-together. We still had Gene over though, and as is the tradition for Super Bowl, I made homemade soup. Hence the name, “Souper” Bowl.
Typically, I would make two or three varieties of soup, but yestersay I just made Italian wedding soup, a favorite of Justin’s.

I thought it was a really good game and I was happy to see the Colts win. Had the Saints been playing instead of the Bears, though, I would have been in a bit of a quandry. Although Peyton Manning played for the University of Tennessee and he’s kind of like a “home state” boy, I couldn’t have helped but root for the Saints because New Orleans could have really used a win. If a whole city ever needeed a feel good ego boost, The Big Easy would be the one.

Oh and a big hell-yeah to Prince for the half time show. You don’t know this, but I’m a Prince fan. He even performed my favorite song, “Baby I’m a Star.” I did a little boogie while seated on the couch. Get down with your bad self, Brother Prince!

Anyway, here’s hoping you have a great week

  1. Damn!

Italian wedding soup and Brad does the boogie!

Well worth the price of admissions and even time spent watching the game!

    You betcha!

    :)

  2. I thought of you when I head “Baby I’m a Star”. I told my SuperBowl hostess I had performed that for you in high whore drag. Did you catch the phallic shadow puppets during his guitar solo?

  3. Maybe it is my advanced age, but I like Prince but I thought his performance at the Super Bowl stunk… in front of 100 million people in a dewrag… come on. I don’t know – no enthausiam, nothing special…

But Peyton – swoon… and did you see Cooper in the 6:00 pre-kickoff spot – I do believe he MAY be the most handsome of the three…

  4. The Colts who play football 70 miles from where I live won the Super Bowl.I feel great!!!Everyone predicted a loss if it rained but Peyton wouldn’t be denied. He announced this morning that he had partied all night long. I wish I had been in Miami.
Welcome back to the blogging world.

  5. Well, as long as you aren’t leaving us :) I got home just in time for Prince’s performance – and it rocked! As far as the Colts go, I’d enjoy them a lot better if they picked a name representing their area – as oppose to their roots (Maryland). AT least when Cleveland came to B’more we selected the Ravens in honor of Poe. Bitter? Yes, I am. I grew up with the colts. Still have a lot of things with their logo on it. I mean, they still have our logo LOL. As far as the achievement for a black coach, that’s awesome.

  6. OK what is Italian Wedding soup? And who are these Colts you are speaking of did I mis something this weekend ?? No ..don’t tell me ..oh yeah the Kentucky derby right ?? I figure Colts must be a horse race huh.
    ( How gay am I )

  7. I was glad to see Indy won!! Both Tony Dungy and Payton Manning deserved it!

Did you make the lobster bisque??

  8. you’re right Joshua, the Colts shuld be called the Hoosiers. It is like the St.Louis Cardinals Football moving to Arizona and still keeping the same name. The Arizona Roadrunners maybe?
I ‘ve seen the Campbells Italian Wedding soup. The picture on the can looks like bean soup that has been vomited out. I’m sure homemade is better.
Next time Brad, get a video of this Boogie, okay?

  9. Italian Wedding soups, one of the best soups next to Crab Bisque!!

Although I’m not a huge Prince fan, I would have liked to see you do a boogie, even if you were just seated!!

Hope you guys had a good weekend!!

I loved the game!! Lost my voice screaming!!

  10. I knew Payton was going to go allll the way…I missed the half time show because that’s when I came home.

  11. Hey Brad – I don’t know if you can follow this link, since I found it through an internal WordPress announcement. But they just released where it is now possible for blogger beta to transfer to wordpress. Comments, categories, and postings – flawlessly. This may not effect your final decision. But I thought I’d let you know :)

  12. I actually thought Prince did a decent halftime show albeit absent his flashiy dancing from years past. I am having this funny visual of you and the connection to Prince. but then again who would have made the connection between Spidies and ‘Babs?’ LMSO!
